Heavy Rain Clobbers the Northeast
--A slowly moving cold front rammed into a warm and humid air mass
along the Atlantic Seaboard Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The
result has been rounds of heavy rain, gusty thunderstorms and flash
flooding. So far, it appears the heaviest rain through 12:00 noon
Thursday has been in western Massachusetts with 4.29 inches in North
Adams, 4.04 inches in Westfield, and 4.02 inches in Chicopee Falls.
Meanwhile, Albany, N.Y., received 3.16 inches and Pawtucket, R.I.,
received 2.76 inches thus far. Rain is still falling Thursday
afternoon in parts of New York and New England and will likely add
significantly to the totals.
