Normally, living in the Eastern US, I don't have the time or energy to also deal with Pacific Storms. But today I felt compelled to do this page in tribute to Super Typhoon Keith, which passed between the Guam and Saipan areas last night. The lowest estimated central pressure was 872 mb. The eye circulation extended up to 55,000 feet. The maximum sustained winds were estimated at at least 180mph at its peak. I talked to a person in Guam today and he said he thought it was 190/gusts235. If you know the exact speed please e-mail me. This storm will be competition for the Strongest Tropical Storm Ever in the World. You may recall that Typhoon Tip in 1979 was the previous record-breaker, with an estimated minimum central pressure of 870 mb and sustained winds estimated at 190mph.

As you can see from the observations below, KGUM reported a wind of 55 knots (64 mph) at 10:52Z November 2nd. KGSM reported a wind gust of 85 knots (98 mph) when it resumed observations at 13:00Z November 2nd.
