Shining Rock Wilderness
Near Mt. Pisgah, NC
1993
This picture was taken on a trail in Shining Rock Wilderness, which is just west of Mt. Pisgah on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Honorary Member Chris Schmechel (shown) and I went for a hike but found ourselves in the midst of some beautiful rime ice (you can see a little on the ground and a good covering on the mountain behind him). I can't remember now if the rainbow to the right and up from Chris was induced by the camera or was actually there. The picture was taken during the winter of 1992, 1993, or 1994.
