This picture was taken from the parking lot of Mount Mitchell, NC, the highest point east of the Mississippi at 6684 feet. We are looking northeasterly I believe. This is the second photo of these lenticular wave clouds (see also Mt.Mitchell Lenticulars #2). These type of wave clouds were not uncommon in the mountains of NC, but these are certainly the most beautiful I have seen.
