Throughout the years, WeatherMatrix Members and even those outside the group have asked: "How Can We Help?". There are many ways, from helping us work on the site to donating your old computers. Please explore below to see which best fits you.

1. Participate on WeatherMatrix.Net

Maintain Your Member Profile; Report On Our Email Lists; Hook up a WeatherCam or Weather Station

WeatherMatrix Members can participate on WeatherMatrix.Net and our Email Lists to keep the organization strong.

• Member Profile: Each Member has a free Member Profile, located under his or her name, on the WeatherMatrix.Net Members section. Keep your Member Profile up-to-date by pressing the Edit button at the bottom of the page. Your Member Profile allows other Members in your local area, or members of the press, to contact you regarding local weather events or your weather interests.
• WeatherMatrix List: All Members of WeatherMatrix can subscribe to the WeatherMatrix Email List and discuss historical weather events, weather equipment, theories, and more.
• StormReports List: All Members of WeatherMatrix can subscribe to the StormReports Email List and post and receive reports of current worldwide severe and extreme weather observed by Members or reported by the Media. These reports end up on the front page of WeatherMatrix.Net giving your report the worldwide publicity it deserves.
• Setup Your Own WeatherCam or Weather Station: Members are also encouraged to hook up an electronic weather station or WeatherCam to the Internet to increase the amateur observation network that WeatherMatrix is a part of. If you add this information to your Member Profile (see above), it will automatically be added to the Members' Weather Stations list.

2. Volunteer Time

We Need Help Maintaining The Website

We need help from Members to maintain the WeatherMatrix website. The large collections of Internet links such as the WeatherCams and Radar Supersite require constant Quality Control to see that the links don't become stale and we stay one step ahead of the competition. New product and site development is on a continuing basis. Secretarial help is also needed. If you think you might have a few hours to help us check links, do HTML or PHP, or even refomat an Excel Spreadsheet please contact us and tell us you'd like to be on our "Volunteers List." You won't be required to do anything but you will be informed when we have projects that we need help with.

3. Donate Equipment

Got An Old Computer Lying Around?

Although the WeatherMatrix Control Center is running a lot of things now, the equipment is struggling with a taxing amount of programs running, and failures are not uncommon. We are looking for older but still working computers to run things such as the EMWIN Feed, WeatherMatrix WeatherCams, WeatherStations, Lightning Equipment, etc. At this time the minimum equipment that we need is Pentium-100 speed computers -- anything better than that will be fine. We are also on the hunt for 15" and 17" computer monitors and small-screen color televisions. If you have any of this equipment that you would like to donate (and that still works, unfortunately we won't have time to repair it), please contact us.

WeatherMatrix is a large and elaborate website that requires a strong monthly fee to a web hosting provider to continue to be reliable and functional. Beyond these costs, monthly high-speed Internet access, maintenance for the WeatherMatrix Control Center, and speaking engagements & promotional materials have taken their toll on our finances. Please visit the WeatherMatrix Merchandise area to support us -- and get something in return. We cannot continue to offer WeatherMatrix as a free service without your support.

If you can't afford any of the merchandise, or would like to donate a larger sum, please consider leaving donation with the Amazon Honor System or PayPal links above. People who donate directly to WeatherMatrix will be well-recognized on our website. We cannot continue to offer WeatherMatrix as a free service without your support.

6. Spread The Word

Let Your Weather Friends Know About WeatherMatrix & Link To Us From Your Website

Let your friends know about our organization as increased membership leads to a better organization with more support to help us grow. NOTE: Please do not send unsolicited emails to unrelated groups or people regarding WeatherMatrix or anything that could be considered "spam."

One of the best ways to spread the word requires little work from you -- just link to WeatherMatrix from your website! We have a number of linking methods and logos you can use.

Another way to tell people about WeatherMatrix is to have our URL in your "signature" file of your email client. Everytime you send an email, your email client can send a message at the bottom which tells information about you, and also WeatherMatrix. Consult your email client for more information about signature files. An example that you can copy, and alter for you, is printed below.
