Hidi-ho good neighbors. Greetings from the high desert of the mid Atlantic.
Still amazingly dry here at my homestead in the hills with only 0.18 of an inch
of rain falling in the last 37 days. Yesterday (October 5) the min
temperature was 66 degrees. It is a new daily high smashing the previous high of 60
degrees set in 1995. This dry streak is also now the fourth longest on record.
Top Five Dry Steaks (Consecutive Days with no Significant Rainfall)
1. 60 - October - March 1998
2. 42 - March - May 1985
3. 40 - January - March 1978
4. 36 - August - October 2005
5. 35 - January - February 2002 & January - February 2005
Needless to say that with two of the longest dry streaks in the last 30 years
happening this year makes us quite dry. Models show rainfall from Tropical
Storm Tammy visiting my area beginning Friday. I will believe that when I see
it. Until later.
Jim
