Typhoon Nabi, as of early Saturday, was over the northern
portion of the Philippine Sea, near 22.3 degrees north and 134.0
degrees east with sustained winds around 140 mph. Movement was
northwest at 12 mph. A northwesterly track and some fluctuation in
strength is expected over the next few days. This dangerous storm
is still expected to threaten the Ryukyu Islands Monday, then may
impact southwest Japan or South Korea around the middle of next
week.
Rainfall linked to the remnants of Typhoon Talim was excessive
in parts of southeastern China again on Friday. In Jiangxi province,
Lu Shan got over 20.0 inches of rain within 24 hours.
Forty-eight hour rainfall ended late Friday, local time, was
about 9.5 inches at Nakhon Ratchasima in south-central Thailand.
Another 5.13 inches of rain fell again from late Friday onward.
