HEADLINES:
Intense Low Pressure Center Set To Sweep Across Southern Canada With Severe
Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, And Heavy Rain; Heat Ridge May Bring Long Period Of
Haze, Smog, And Humid Air To Eastern Two-Thirds Of U.S. Next Week
EXPECTED NORTH AMERICA SEVERE OR EXTREME WEATHER NEXT 24 HOURS:
during the near term. Consult the SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK below for details on
storm threats.
Aside from a persistent weakness over FL (with heavy/severe thunderstorms)
and a weak cP intrusion over the Northeast (which may set off isolated showers
and thunder today), much of the nation will be dominated by an extensive heat
ridge. Although the hottest values will be found primarily west of the
Mississippi River, the progression of the system associated with severe weather in the
Prairie provinces will allow for a translation of cT+mT values into
Appalachia and the Atlantic Coastal Plain by 72 hours. Any cooler air over the lower
Great Lakes and New England will quickly exit, and the 90 deg F isotherm may
reach as far east as an Adrian MI....Youngstown OH....Bristol PA....Vineland NJ
arc on Friday afternoon.
