This afternoon about 1530 hrs EDT I left Titusville, FL on I 95 south
bound to the "Bee Line" turning west to pickup my wife returning to
OMC from a week's vacation with our grandson in Greenwich, NY. The
45 minute drive turned out to be a rather interesting display
of "mother nature's" charms! The gusty winds blew, rain pelted down,
the car shook and move all over the highway on its own. The sun
would come out for a few minutes then it was back to rain and wind.
It was back and forth like that for the entire trip to OMC. The ride
home was rather dull compare to the other side of the round trip.
The following statistics were recorded at my weather station in
(CW2689)Titusville, FL:
Winds began to pick up about 1400 hrs and continue to be sharp. The
winds were from the SW or WSW during the afternoon. Speeds averaged
between 6 to 11 mph with strong gust between 15 to 30 mph. The worst
of the winds and rain fell during the period of 1530 to 1630 with
4.12" of rain falling in that time frame. The rain intensity was
from 3.4" to 4.9" per hr. Barometer readings average 1011.5 to
1012.5 mb for the hour with a spike to 1013.1 mb reported at 1600
hrs. Temperatures plummeted from 89.9 to 71.5 f in a matter of a few
minutes!
T1900 hrs EDT - The system seems to have blown itself out. The wind
has shifted to the general direction of the NNE to NE at a very mild
rate of 1.0 mph. The barometer is steady reading 1012.6 mb, the
temperature is 83.5 f. The sky is clear with some high scattered
clouds.
I have a new weather cam installed, "EasyLyle 1" it can be reached at
67.78.253.174. To stream the video it requires a current install of
Sun Micro Systems "Java", available at www.java.com at no charge.
Unfortunately I've just completed the physical and Internet install
and haven't configured the recording settings of the weather cam.
The Toshiba Cam operates 24 x 7. The night pictures, b/w, are out
standing. The daylight pictures are pretty good also.
Well all you "Fathers" have a happy and peaceful "Fathers Day"!
