A strong Nor'easter off the coastline of southeastern Canada has
brought plenty of rainfall over the past few days to the area along
with plenty of coastal flooding due to the astronomical high tide and
the strong easterly flow. parts of Nova Scotia have seen heavy
rainfall over the past few days with some areas being near record
rainfall for the month. Digby, Nova Scotia has also seen plenty of
rain the past few days with over 4 inches over a 4 day period ending
early Wednesday morning. Winds with this storm have been strong with
some sustained winds along the coastline of over 35 mph.
Heavy rainfall over Ishigaki Jima, Japan, has brought over 5
inches of rain in a 24 hour period ending early Wednesday morning,
local time. Most of this occurred during the afternoon on Tuesday.
The hot weather continues for much of India before the monsoonal
moisture begins to help cool the oppressive heat over the area. On
Wednesday, temperatures in Calcutta, India, climbed to 95 degrees
with a dew point of 82 degrees. This made for a Realfeel temperature
of 116 degrees during the middle of the afternoon.
Locally heavy rainfall has occurred in parts of southeast China
the past few days, but too far north and east to benefit the the
drought-stricken area of western Guangdong Province. The heavy
rainfall was mainly from eastern Guandong Province, through Jiangxi
and Fujian Provinces. Ling-Ling was doused with 3.49 inches in about
48 hours time, while Chu-hsien had 3.87 inches in a similar time
period. Shao-wu, received near 6.00 inches in the past 72 hours.
