Most of India and Pakistan continue to experience blistering
heat. Wednesday was no exception. Pad Idan, located in southeastern
Pakistan, saw the temperature climb to 118 degrees for the second
straight day. Jharsuguda, India marked the third consecutive day with
temperatures above 110 degrees when the temperature rose to 113
degrees Wednesday.

Temperatures across portions of the Mediterranean Sea,
particularly in Libya and Tunisia, was burned by high heat Tuesday.
The temperature reached 105 degrees at Tarabulus (Tripoli), the
national capital. The normal high for this time of the year is only 86
degrees. High temperatures rose to 108 degrees in Baninah and 109
degrees in Agedabia, both of which were about 25 degrees above their
normal high. The high heat was also felt in Tunisia. El Borma saw an
afternoon temperature of 112 degrees.

A destructive storm hit Brisbane, Australia Wednesday night. Hail
pelted the area, and many areas lost power. Flooding was also a major
problem, resulting in extensive damage. A television studio in
Brisbane was completely flooded out, causing the studio to broadcast
from Sydney.

As of 8 AM PDT on Thursday, Tropical Storm Adrian was located near
12.5 North, 90.9 West or about 140 miles southwest of San Salvador, El
Salvador. Adrian was moving to the northeast at 9 mph with maximum
sustained winds near 65 mph and minimal central pressure of 994
millibars or 29.35 inches. Adrian will continue moving to the
northeast and is expected to make a landfall tonight on the coast of
El Salvador. A Tropical Storm Warning and a Hurricane Watch are in
effect for the coast of El Salvador and from the Pacific coast of
Guatemala from Sipicate eastward to the Guatemala-El Salvador border.
A Tropical Storm Watch is effect for the Pacific coast of Honduras and
for Guatemala from Sipacate westward to the Guatemala-Mexico border.
The main threat from Adrian will be heavy rains and life-threatening
flash floods and mudslides. Rainfall totals will range from 6 to 12
inches with locally as much as 20 inches in the mountains. Adrian is
expected to weaken to a depression after making landfall. It is
expected to remain a depression after crossing Central America. Adrian
is forecasted by Saturday to become a tropical depression in the
Caribbean. Adrian may continue a track to the northeast towards Cuba
and the Bahamas in the next 5 to 7 days.
