Heavy rain pelted Honduras' eastern Caribbean Sea shores Wednesday
night. Rainfall at Puerto Lempira was about 4.4 inches within twelve

Thursday dawned unusually cold for May in much of Canada's
province of Ontario. Armstrong, for example, was nearly 20 degrees
below average in setting a morning low of 15. Other cold spots were
Kapuskasing, Nagagami and Timmins with respective lows of 19, 17 and
17 degrees; each of these marks was 15-20 degrees below the mean
daily low for May.

Wednesday, fiery heat wafted to the shores of the Mediterranean
Sea in northwestern Libya and southeastern Tunisia. In Libya, the
heat was most striking in Zuwarah where 111 degrees was reached,
thereby exceeding May's average daily high by 35 degrees. Tarabulus
(Tripoli), the national capital, set a high of 108 degrees versus an
average high near 85. Medenine, Tunisia, peaked at 110 degrees.

The weather really heated-up Thursday in southwestern Asia,
particularly on the Indian sub-continent. In Pakistan, three cities,
Jacobabad, Pad Idan and Nawabshah, soared to 114 degrees. Topping a
lengthy list of hot spots in India were Nellore, Nagpur and Ramgundam,
each of which topped out at 111 degrees. Farther to the west, 109
degrees was reached at Ahwaz, southwestern Iran, and at Al Ahsa,
eastern Saudi Arabia.
