        World Weather Summary
Updated: April 23, 2005 6:58 a.m.
An early season heat brought temperatures in the low 80s to
portions of Spain late late week. On Friday, the temperature at Malaga
was 81. This is much above their normal high temperature of 69F A cold
front will move through Saturday, bringing an end to the early season
heat wave.

The island of St. Georges, which is in the east of French Guiana,
near Brazil, picked up 1.9 of rain Friday. This brings their total
rainfall for the past 10 days up to 10.6. But, April is the wettest
month of the year. On average 16.9 of rain falls there during the
month of April.

Last month was the driest March on record in San Juan, Puerto
Rico, as no measurable rain fell. This week, the atmosphere seems bent
on making up for lost time and, in fact, this month is now the wettest
April on record. On Thursday, for example, this capital city was
doused by soaking showers that left 4.9 inches of rain; this was a
record for the date. Then on Friday, nearly an additional inch of rain
fell. In total, about 11.3 inches of rain fell during the work week,
boosting the monthly tally to 12.1 inches. This surpassed the 10.4
inches in 1988 that was formerly the April record. For perspective,
the average rainfall for all of April is about 3.7 inches.
