Moving here from Pa has given me the opportunity to take some amazing
weather photos of lightening and cloud formations, and a wall cloud or two,
and I got a few more good ones yesterday.. Quite a different atmosphere out
here than what I was used to in the National forests of Pa.
Outside of Grand Island Nebraskayesterday, we went from severe thunderstorm
watch, to severe thunderstorm warnings, to tornado watch, to a wind
warning.. today the wind is howling again.
Surrounding areas were experiencing a bit more. It seems we dodged the
bullet.
Grand Island was looking gloomy, surrounded by some serious looking clouds,
very photogenic anvils among others, which quickly passed, giving way to
sun, while the storm which had brought them, moved past us, and seemed to
immediately blossom into tornado warnings for a large portion of eastern
Nebraska, others in Kansas and Missouri..

.NOW...
...STRONG WEST WINDS SWEEPING ACROSS THE AREA...
WEST WINDS OF 30 TO 45 MPH WILL BLOW ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTH CENTRAL
NEBRASKA AND NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS.
WIND GUSTS OVER 50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE...AND MAY RESULT IN LOCALLY
POOR VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING DUST NEAR FRESHLY PLOWED FIELDS.
THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE ACROSS ALL OF NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS...
AND ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LEXINGTON TO COLUMBUS LINE IN SOUTH
CENTRAL NEBRASKA. THE WINDS WILL SUBSIDE BY 10 PM.
&&
...A TORNADO WARNING CONTINUES FOR NORTHEASTERN JACKSON...CLAY...
SOUTHWESTERN RAY AND SOUTHEASTERN PLATTE COUNTIES UNTIL 615 PM CDT...

IN ADDITION TO THE TORNADIC THREAT...VERY STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS
IN EXCESS OF 80 MPH AND GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITH
THIS STORM. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A
