Very hot weather grips much of the Indian Subcontinent.
Temperatures in many locations across the nations of India and
Pakistan exceeded 100 degrees on this Easter Sunday, with several
cities in southern India topping out at a whopping 105 degrees!
Heavy rains have affected parts of southern and eastern Asia.
On the island of Fukue, west of Kyushu, Japan, 2.60 inches of rain
fell over a 12-hour period Easter Sunday, while Tarempa, Indonesia
received over 2.80 inches!
Tropical Cyclone Hennie is dissipating over the open South Indian
Ocean. Early Sunday EST, Hennie is located 495 miles southeast of
Mauritius. Hennie is moving towards the southeast at 6 mph with
highest sustained winds of 55 mph. Hennie will continue to dissipate
over the next 24 hours.
High winds, some above 50 mph, whipped over west-central
Kazakhstan Friday and Saturday. Snow fell at times, and the wind
swept up loose snow and dust in thick clouds.
Tropical downpours pelted some of the eastern Caroline Islands in
the western North Pacific Ocean Friday to Friday night, local time.
Pohnpei (Ponape), Federated States of Micronesia, was doused by about
4.5 inches of rain within 24 hours.
