From: Thomas Giella KN4LF (kn4lf{at}tampabay.rr.com)
Date: Tue Jan 25 2005 - 12:52:50 EST

The sunshine state dawned cold early Tuesday morning with the subfreezing
line down to Immokalee on the southern peninsula, per my forecast. However
as the cold surface high pressure system trajectory was SSE into the eastern
Gulf Of Mexico instead of SE across the peninsula, we saw a warming and
moistening NW onshore flow just above the boundary layer that mixed down to
surface during the overnight hours. This acted to prevent hard freeze
conditions across most of the peninsula.

The cold spot this morning was 21 deg. at Jasper and Marianna in the north.
The cold spot on the central peninsula was 26 deg. in East Nobleton. The
cold spot across the southern peninsula was 31 at Venus.

Other notable minimum temperatures across the north include 22 deg. at
Quincy and Panacea. On the central peninsula Archbold saw 27 deg., Mount
Plymouth 28 deg and Holder saw 29 deg. On the southern peninsula Immokalee
saw 32 deg.

Here in suburban SW Plant City 25 miles east of Tampa I observed 31.6 deg.
with frost. It was also 31.6 deg. in suburban east Plant City and 29.4 deg.
in north Plant City. Nearby Lithia saw 33.2 deg. and Tampa Vandenberg AP saw
33.8 deg.

Take Care,
