It was generally overcast and in the mid 40's all day in Richmond, Virginia.
There were occasional sprinkles. At about 7:15Pm, I left my house to go to a
Christmas party. It was raining, temp 40. In a couple of minutes, I heard a few
sleet pellets. The rain and wind increased. In another couple of minutes, the
rain became heavy, blowing snow. The temp dropped 10 degrees in those
minutes. There were several flashes of lightning. The snow continued for a couple of
hours. The temperature is now 21 degrees at midnight with about 2 inches of
snow on the ground. Pretty amazing. I wish I had my video camera for the
lightning.
