From: Thomas Giella KN4LF (kn4lf{at}tampabay.rr.com)
Date: Tue Dec 21 2004 - 11:22:08 EST

Per my forecast the cold Arctic high pressure center passed through NE
Florida enroute the Atlantic Ocean instead of across the central peninsula
per model forecasts. Therefore warmer and more moist NE wind flow above the
boundary layer in conjunction with some subtropical jet stream Cirrus clouds
held minimum temperatures up statewide.

Even with the air mass modification a hard freeze did visit portions of the
inland rural NE, north peninsula and north central peninsula, with the
subfreezing line down to approximately S.R. 60 from Lithia to Kenansville.

The cold spot in the state this morning was 22 deg. at East Nobleton in the
north central region. The cold spot across the north was 24 deg. at Fort
White. The cold spot on the southern peninsula was 35 deg. at Immokalee.

Other notable minimum temperatures across the north include 25 deg. at Lake
City, 26 at Alachua and 27 deg. at Perry. On the central peninsula Holder
had 23 deg., Brooksville 25 deg., Inverness, Mount Plymouth and Umatilla 26
deg. On the southern peninsula Ortona had 39 deg.

Here in Suburban SW Plant City 25 miles east of Tampa I had 31 deg. Nearby
Knights Station had 30 deg., Vandenberg Airport in east Tampa and Lithia had
32 deg.

Also during the day yesterday dew points fell below zero across north
Florida, with the single digits penetrating deep into the southern
Everglades!

Take Care,
