Tropical Cyclone Bento is located approximately 690 miles
south-southeast of Diego Garcia. Bento has maximum sustained
winds of 60 mph with gusts to 80 mph and is moving to the southeast
at 4 mph. Bento is expected to slowly weaken over the next 24 hours
and is no threat to any land.
An area of showers and thunderstorms located 810 miles southeast
of Guam will likely strengthen into a Tropical Cyclone Sunday night
or Monday. The system is moving westward at 15 mph and could threaten
the Philippines by the middle of the upcoming week.
Heavy Rain fell Saturday night across parts of northern Iran.
In fact, rain amounts exceeded 2 inches in Babulsar, Ramsar and Rasht,
while over 3 inches fell across Anzali. All these cities are located
along the southern end of the Caspian Sea. This same storm produced
heavy rain in Lebanon on Thursday night into Friday.
Sunday started off on a mild note across the southwest Yukon
Territory of Canada. Whitehorse began Sunday with temperatures near
40 degrees. Keep in mind that the record high is 45, while the normal
low is 3 degrees. A gusty south to southwest wind along with cloud
cover prevented the temperature from falling Saturday night.
