"NEMA Tobago has revealed that 111 houses were damaged or destroyed in the
November 12 rainstorms that resulted in mud and landslides and flooding in
the island.
Of the 111 houses seven were completed destroyed including four in
Delaford, the hardest hit area where two young persons lost their lives.
NEMA said six houses were structurally damaged and 98 were flooded. Added
to this 14 vehicles and three boats were lost in the disaster. It also
received reports of 127 landslides throughout the island.
Sandy stated that the Meteorological Office at Crown Point measured a
record 200 mm of rain or about 8 inches during the six-hour period 2 a.m.
to 8 a.m. on the Friday. The rainfall for whole of November 2003 was 216.9
mm. And even while NEMA was revealing these statistics on Tuesday the
island continue to be pounded with heavy rainfall causing it to issue
another bulletin requesting residents to be on the look out for flooding. "
