"The storm system dumped 1 to 2 inches on the city and brought dangerous
lightning.
Firefighters' frantic search for a woman who was swept away by fast-moving
floodwaters ended in tragedy late Tuesday as a huge storm system swept
through the city and reportedly spawned at least two tornadoes in Bexar
County.
At 7:27 p.m., callers reported a twister 3 miles north of Grey Forest, east
of Helotes. Thirteen minutes earlier, security police at the west gate at
Lackland AFB reported a tornado touching down near the Valley Hi community.
At Lackland AFB, sirens that warned of a possible tornado went off sometime
after 7 p.m.
Road closures piled up as reports of flooding along Interstate 35 South,
Boerne Stage Road and U.S. 90 West were called in to Bexar County dispatchers.
The Blanco County Sheriff's Department said one tornado was spotted near
U.S. 290 west of Johnson City and another in the Sandy community near FM
1320 and 1323. No damage was reported. "
