[STORMREPORTS] CAT3-4? Jeanne Observations
Looking at the NWS Melbourne NEXRAD radar loop via AccuWX Professional at 10:37 pm EDT CAT 3-4?, Jeanne seems to be making a left hand turn into the SE Florida coast due to speed divergence, like Charley but in a less dramatic manner. It looks like the eyewall will make landfall near Port St. Lucie, within my 5 day landfall forecast window. Radar is also detecting wind speeds in the vicinity of 140 mph in the NE quadrant of the eyewall. It also looks like the track will be right across the peninsula to the Tampa Bay area on an eventual WNW heading, within my reemergence into the water window of Tarpons Springs to Bayport.
BTW here in Plant City 25 miles east of Tampa at 10:55 pm EDT the wind is from the north at 28 mpg gusting to 35 mph with a falling barometer of 29.61". I'm still expecting hurricane force winds across a large area of the central peninsula as Jeanne moves W-WNW at a pretty good clip. As I mentioned before the damage is going to surprise many!
Take Care,
SWFWMD Rainfall Observer #574
