Sorry I haven't written but we lost power Thursday night {at}11pm and didn't get it back until last evening. Today was spent cleaning,
and restocking the fridge/freezer. Lost a boat-load of food.
Thursday we got hit here in Mills River, NC (20 miles southwest of Asheville, NC) with winds of 98-103 mph. Some tropical storm!
Winds kept howling through Saturday evening, sustained at 35-40 with continued gusts to above 65.

I-40 got washed away in the gorge just this side of the NC/TN border when the Pigeon River took out the east bound lanes. We're now
to the west bound lane handling both east & west bound traffic.
Macon county, NC had a terrible mud slide that took out 30 homes! 9 deaths here in western NC from storm Ivan. They are saying
this was the worse storm that hit, even worse than the blizzard of 1993. we weren't here to compare that.
I've lived through 7 hurricanes in my life in southeast Florida, but never experienced the flooding like we've had up here in the
mountains.
