[STORMREPORTS] NC. stats From Charley
Hurricane Charley made landfall between Myrtle beach and Wilmington Saturday August 14th with sustained winds of 75 mph.
Charley then moved NNE at near 30 mph. The center of the storm passed just north of Jacksonville, over Washington, and Edenton, and then off the Coast just to the north of Norfolk, VA.
Some of the highest wind gusts were:
Rainfall amounts were highest just to the west of the path.
Several tornadoes were spawned by Charley in Pitt, Jones, Onslow and Carteret Counites. The strongest was in Kitty Hawk where a tornado broke out car windows and ripped the roof off a building.
