Having crossed Japan's southern Ryukyu Islands, Tropical Storm
Megi is now plying the waters of the East China Sea. Late Tuesday
afternoon, EDT, Megi's top sustained winds of 70 mph are blowing
around a center which is 205 miles northwest of Naha, Okinawa, Japan.
The storm is moving north-northwestward at 18 mph. Megi is forecast to
take turns towards the north and northeast over the next 24 hours. On
this path, the cyclone will threaten South Korea and southwestern
Japan, perhaps as a minimal typhoon.

A strong tropical wave over the western North Pacific Ocean near
the central Caroline Islands is being closely watched as there are
signs that a tropical depression might form here soon.

Soaking thunderstorms and showers struck a small part of northern
Pakistan near the border with India Tuesday. Rainfall within twelve
hours was 5.2 inches at Jhelum and 3.3 inches in Sialkot.

In Wonju, South Korea, rainfall was quite heavy Sunday and Monday.
Over 5.6 inches of rain fell during the day Monday with the heavy
rainfall. On Sunday, over 1.1 inches of rain fell, making for more
than 6.7 inches of rain in less than 48 hours.
