CAMPBELLTOWN, Pa. -- Residents prepared to return to their devastated
housing development as weather researchers tried to determine whether it
was a tornado that damaged at least 50 homes, leveling some and tearing the
roofs off others, and injured two dozen people, one critically.

There were conflicting reports late Wednesday afternoon about whether a
tornado actually touched down in Spring Mount around rush hour. Karen
Smith, supervisor on duty at Montgomery County Radio, reported dispatching
police, ambulance and fire departments to assist with downed trees and
wires in all areas of the county, including in the North Penn area and
Abington.
