Storm folks,

The visible satellite imagery from the 5/29 outbreak was nearly as
impressive as the radar imagery for a number of reasons.

Aside from the obvious presentation of the anvils and overshooting tops
associated with the supercells, one could easily pick out:

1) The outflow boundary/gust front that produced the dust storm in
western Kansas,

2) Smoke plumes from large brush fires in Old/New Mexico, and lastly,

3) The particulate matter carried by the condensation nucleii in the
higher dew point air east of the dryline (i.e. the "stuff in the air")

I've annotated a satellite image which shows these features. Those
