The death toll from the flood is estimated at 1,000 to 2,000. This is NOT
what they needed.

"As the flooding death toll in Haiti and the Dominican Republic continued
to rise today, one of the most devastated areas was hit by a mild
earthquake, further hampering international rescuers racing to deliver aid
to the injured and homeless.
The Dominican National Emergency Centre said there were no apparent
injuries from the quake, which measured 4.4 on the Richter scale and hit at
1344 GMT in the town of Jimani on the banks of the rain-swollen Soleil
River near the Dominican-Haitian frontier."
