Hidi-ho good neighbors. Greetings from the wind tunnel of the mid Atlantic.
All in all I believe my homestead in the hills was rather fortunate when it
came to Tuesday's storms. I am not sure I can trust my neighbor's observational
skills or his reading ability. My roof is still intact. I lost a dozen or so
shingles. A 80 pound air conditioner was blown out of my window exposing the
master bedroom to the rain and my carpet is a little 'squishier' now then it was
before but everything else was fine. The rainfall total was 1.23 inches for
the storm and at 5:53 PM the wind gusted out of the NNW at 67 mph. Not the
70-somthing mph my neighbor claimed it was but it was still enough to set a new
high gust for the month of May surpassing a 63 mph gust that struck on May 10,
2000. Damage was slight around my homestead in the hills. Considering how many
times the winds gust up here anything that was going to fall would have fell by
now. Until later.....................
Jim
