HEADLINES:
Disaster Movie Scenario Unfolding Across Lower 48 States: Notable Severe
Weather Episode Developing Today From Oklahoma Into Corn Belt Before Smashing
Through Much Of Northeast On Wednesday; Then, Potential For A Huge Tornado
Outbreak In Great Plains, Midwest During Memorial Day Weekend
EXPECTED NORTH AMERICA SEVERE OR EXTREME WEATHER NEXT 24 HOURS:
Consult the SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK and HEAVY RAINFALL OUTLOOK below for
details on this long-lived, expansive convective threat.
And if those threatening paragraphs do not fill your need for stormy weather,
consider this: there are TWO more convective risks emerging by Day 3! One is
a shortwave dropping out of MB and SA, destined to interact with the moist
tropical regime covering much of Dixie on Thursday. An area covering the Upper
Midwest and Great Lakes (with a warm frontal branch over TN/KY and NC) could see
heavy/severe thunderstorms. And then there is the more serious matter of a
low impacting the Pacific Northwest with cold rain and wind after 48 hours. That
feature could ultimately prove to be the biggest severe weather producer in
many years as it heads into the Great Plains and Midwest this holiday weekend.
More on that risk can be found in the MEDIUM RANGE OUTLOOK below.
