QUOTES:

"At least eight people were injured in the second tornado to hit the
Ellsinore area in exactly two years.

She was among seven occupants of a new mobile home that was destroyed by a
funnel cloud at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

"The trailer was picked up off its foundation and thrown into trees. If not
for the trees, they would not have survived," said Ken Sanchez, director of
the Carter County Emergency Management Agency.

Sanchez said the tornado touched down 1 1/4 miles south of U.S. 60 and was
moving in a north/northeasterly direction when it crossed the highway.

"It was 30 minutes later to the day from the tornado that moved from west
to east through the same area two years ago," Sanchez said.

Rick Shanklin, a warning coordinator meteorologist at the National Weather
Service in Paducah, Ky., conducted a damage survey Sunday.

"The F2 tornado had estimated maximum winds of 150 mph. It formed in Carter
County at approximately 5:12 p.m. and remained on the ground until
approximately 5:30 p.m.," Shanklin said.

He also said the damaged area was 1/10 of a mile wide and 7 2/3 miles long.

Another tornado, which Shanklin described as an F1 with 100 mph winds,
damaged several homes, businesses and the post office at Patterson. It
formed in Wayne County at approximately 5:52 p.m. and remained on the
ground for six minutes.

"The damage area was 100 yards wide and four miles long," Shanklin said. No
injuries were reported at Patterson.

Both funnel clouds also damaged trees and knocked down power lines."
