NWS REPORT:
http://www.weathermatrix.net/archive/tornadoreports/0208.html
Officials from the National Weather Service on Wednesday confirmed that a
minimal F1 tornado (73 to 112 mph) did touchdown in Joliet Tuesday evening.
NBC5's Anita Padilla reported that the powerful winds did plenty of damage
to buildings and caused some worrying moments for residents. The good news
is that no one was hurt.
The debris of roofs that were torn off, trees that had been twisted around
and garbage cans that were lifted off the ground could be seen. There was
even a camper that had been picked up and thrown two homes away.
The private damage is estimated at $5 million. The city states the public
damage is closer to $500,000.
