At midnight the heat wave continues... it is still 79 degrees.
To give you an idea how unusual this is, the normal temperature this time
of night for April 19th would be around 45.
Another way to look at it is this Storm Report that was issued on June
12th, 2002:

At that time I noted it was unusual for it to be 78 degrees at midnight,
one degree cooler than tonight!
I did some further checking and confirmed... our high today of 86 was
unusual because the normal maximum high temperature at the peak of
meteorological summer here is only 81. Our high today was 25 degrees above
the nearest NCDC-approved climo station normal and even our LOW this
morning was equal to our normal HIGH for the date (58).
Should we not drop below 77 tonight (unlikely by morning) we would have
tied the all-time record high minimum daily temperature at my location,
recorded on July 29, 2002 (records from 1997-2004).
