"A young family from Clermont in central Queensland has been badly shaken
after its home was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm.

The lightning blew out power at the Daintree Street house about 8:00pm AEST
last night and started a small fire that caused minor damage.

Meanwhile, lightning caused significant damage to Ergon Energy's network in
central Queensland.

A total of 600 homes in Rockhampton, Port Alma, Bajool and the Gracemere
area were blacked out and Ergon crews are working to restore power to
residents in Port Alma, Mount Hopeful and Upper Ulam."
