01/25/2004 F2 LAFAYETTE LA NWS STORM SURVEY

             *** 3 INJ *** A SMALL TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT 647 AM ON
             BOURQUE ROAD...7.5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF DOWNTOWN LAFAYETTE.
             ONE MOBILE HOME WAS FLIPPED OVER...TRAPPING 3 PEOPLE
             INSIDE. ONE MODERATE INJURY...2 INJURIES WERE MINOR. THE
             TORNADO CROSSED US HWY 167...DAMAGING ROOFS ON SEVERAL
             HOMES AND BUSINESSES...BEFORE IT RIPPED THE ENTIRE ROOF
             OFF A WELL-CONSTRUCTED BRICK HOME ON CONSTITUTION DRIVE.
             THREE PEOPLE INSIDE THIS HOME WERE UNINJURED. THEY SAID
             THE TORNADO SOUNDED LIKE A JET PLANE LANDING...LASTING 10
             SECONDS.

"LAFAYETTE ­ An unexpected mid-winter tornado that ripped through two
Lafayette Parish neighborhoods Sunday morning left residents cleaning up
debris and making claims with insurance adjusters Monday, just like
thousands of residents did after Hurricane Lili.
Seaux was the only person reportedly injured when a category F2 tornado
struck at 6:30 a.m. Sunday. That category of tornado had twisting gusts of
113 mph to 157 mph. Authorities said two houses and two mobile homes were
destroyed a storm that produced an intense thunderstorm that morning."
