Here in Calgary AB, Canada, we've reached -30 degrees C (-22 F) twice in a
row. The last time before this that we'd reached -22 was in March 2003.
This morning, we dropped to -29 even (-33.9 C) before it started warming up,
and tomorrow morning, we're supposed to drop even lower. We should reach
-30 F tomorrow morning. Edmonton in central Alberta has had a morning low
so far of -38 degrees F (-39 C), and High Level in northern Alberta is
currently reporting -56 degrees F (-49 C) with freezing fog. It's a cold
morning for Alberta and tomorrow should be even colder before we warm up a
little bit on Wednesday and Thursday and a little more considerably on
Friday. The insides of our windows and doors are also coated with about 1/5
inch of ice, the hydraulics have stopped working on our screen doors, and
the wooden windowpanes have started cracking and seeping a considerable
amount of water. Ah, prairie winters. The Swift Current airport in central
Saskatchewan has also reported a windchill of -66 degrees F (-54 C) this
morning.
