"A man has been struck by lightning during a severe storm in Brisbane.

The State Emergency Service's Brian Scotney says 50 staff have been
dispatched to tackle storm damage near Ipswich and east to the greater
Brisbane area.

"Mainly to assist in tarping of houses - there's alot of tree damage to
roof lines," he said.

Earlier wind gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour were reported near a
tornado at Bundamba, near Ipswich.

Electricity crews are working to restore power to 57,000 homes. There have
been no reports of serious damage."
