"CHARLESTON, West Virginia (AP) -- A storm system plowed through the
central Appalachians into the Eastern Seaboard with heavy rain and wind
Wednesday, flooding roads and closing some schools in West Virginia and
North Carolina.

Flooding had blocked roads in at least 17 West Virginia counties, and at
least one county road was closed by a rock slide, state and local agencies
reported.

Several West Virginia school systems were closed as officials decided not
to risk running buses in areas where fast-moving water was running across
roads.

A few homes were evacuated because of flooding in southern West Virginia,
where some areas had flooding last week. "
