As many as half a dozen tornadoes dropped down on the
area, with twisters reported west of Bay City, near El
Campo and in Sugar Land this morning, then another
reported just west of Bush Intercontinental Airport
around 1 p.m. and another about 3 p.m. near the
Medical Center.

Another tornado touched down about 4 p.m. on
Interstate 10 near the Trinity River in Chambers
County, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Some tractor-trailers were overturned, and the freeway
was still closed as of 7 p.m.
