Date: Mon Oct 27 2003 - 19:40:00 EST

October 27, 2003 6:12 p.m.

Typhoon Parma is over the middle North Pacific Ocean. Late Monday
afternoon, EST. Parma is 505 miles west-northwest of Wake Island. With
highest sustained winds of 85 mph, Parma is heading towards the west
at 23 mph. Wheeling about a strong upper-atmospheric ridge, Parma is
forecast to first head westwards, and later, to turn towards the north
and northeast. All of this roaming about would be over open seas.

An un-named tropical cyclone is over the open Bay of Bengal. Late
Monday afternoon, EST, this weak cyclone is about 160 miles east of
Vishakhapatnam, India. Its highest sustained winds still at 40 mph, it
is heading towards the northwest at 22 mph. The storm is forecast to
land in eastern India in northern Andhra Pradesh or southern Orissa
late Monday night.

Three days of soaking rain amounted to 6.4 inches at Prince
Rupert, British Columbia.

Torrential rain swept across Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, Saturday
night and Sunday. Rainfall was 7.8 inches as of Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, neighboring Iguazu, Argentina, had 6.5 inches.

Although its been chilly recently throughout the British Isles,
some far eastern parts of Scotland felt more like summer than fall on
Monday. Westerly winds blowing down the Highlands warmed Scotland's
North Sea shores. At Aberdeen, 65 degrees was reached whereas an
average day near the end of October would have a high of about 50.
Even at the height of summer, the mean daily high is only 64 here.
