Here in NW South Carolina, we finally received some much needed rain
late yesterday and last night. This station had recorded only .20"
of rain since August 22, however, all that changed last night. I
recorded 1.97" of rain, while some other locations had copious
amounts. A few unofficial totals include: Cashiers, N.C., located in
the southern mountains of N.C: 4.41"; Tallulah Falls, GA, located in
the NE Georgia mountains: 3.00", and Gainsville, GA, located about 50
miles north of Atlanta: 3.03". Radar estimates indicate that my
entire county had between 1.00"-3.00". Not a bad way to break a dry
spell.
