[STORMREPORTS] T.S. Grace Pounds Parts of Houston Area

From: Steve Nelson (steve0707{at}yahoo.com)
Date: Sun Aug 31 2003 - 12:46:49 EDT

Rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches have already been
measured in southeast Harris and northern Galveston
counties overnight.

No street flooding was reported in the area by 8 a.m.,
although areas of east Harris, Chambers and Liberty
counties had received from 2 to 6 inches of rain
overnight. The highest overnight rainfall total was
recorded at Taylor Lake Village, where nearly 7 inches
had fallen by 7 a.m.

About 3,000 people in areas mainly east of Houston
were without power early today, mainly because of high
winds bumping power lines, CenterPoint Energy
officials said. That number was down to under 1,000 by
8 a.m.
