"The National Weather Service (news - web sites) issued a hurricane watch
for the island Saturday afternoon when Jimena was 710 miles east of Hilo,
moving west at 18 mph.
Winds of 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph and rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches
were expected to hit the southern portions of the Big Island late Sunday.
As much as 10 inches of rain was possible in some areas, forecasters said."

"Jimena has sustained winds of 105 mph with gusts to 125 mph. The storm
will continue to track westward over the next 72 hours and slowly weaken.
Large swells from Jimena will reach the islands Sunday. The storm is
expected to track south of Hawaii Monday. "
