Appalachian Snowstorm Closes Schools (Associated Press)
"Schools were closed Monday in several of North Carolina's mountain
counties, and some Virginia residents had no electricity after a storm
dumped heavy, wet snow, more than a foot of it in some places, in the
central Appalachians.
The mountains of eastern West Virginia got the heaviest snowfall Sunday,
with 16.5 inches at Davis. Blacksburg, Va., collected 11 inches and 9
inches fell at Warm Springs. A foot or more fell at Boone and West
Jefferson in North Carolina. To the north, 8 inches fell at Dysart, Pa. "
