Flood Warnings Issued Across North Carolina

By The Associated Press

"Some of the heaviest rain appeared to have fallen in northwest North
Carolina, where the National Weather Service said some areas had received
2.5 inches to 4 inches of rain overnight. Another 1 to 2 inches was
expected during the day, bringing a flash flood warning for Yadkin, Wilkes,
Rockingham, Stokes, Caswell, Surry and Halifax counties.

The weather service said a few roads were closed in those counties and some
were impassable.

In nearby Iredell County, flooding forced officials to close part of
Interstate 40, not far from where the highway converges with I-77.

Some trapped motorists have been rescued from flooded vehicles, but no one
has been injured, he said. Some mobile home parks in the county are a major
concern, he said. "
