DALLAS -- Sleet and freezing rain swept into Texas on
Monday afternoon, icing roadways and making bridges
and overpasses treacherous. Some power outages because
of wind and ice were reported in Austin.
"The roads are already dangerous and temperatures will
remain below freezing tomorrow, so we're not expecting
any melt on the lesser traveled roads. People probably
can travel on the major highways by 10 a.m. or so
after the salt crews get a chance to treat the roads,"
said National Weather Service meteorologist Chris
Robbins.
Interstate 10 between Ft. Stockton & Kerrville in
Central Texas is closed at this time due to icy
conditions.(11:40pmCT)
