RE: [STORMREPORTS] Photos of the 50-inch snowfall in Garrett County MD

The article he quotes sounds pretty sure, but we all know this wouldn't be
the first time the media was wrong! :)

"A storm of historic proportions struck Garrett County and much of the East
Coast on Presidents' Day weekend, bringing four feet of snow to the
mountaintop. Official counts place the snow depth at 50 to 52 inches,
breaking records of one-time accumulations for as far back as 80 years."

Also NWS says "GARRETT COUNTY MARYLAND HAS RECEIVED AS MUCH AS 40 INCHES OF
SNOW" here:
http://www.weathermatrix.net/archive/snowreports/0727.html

I wouldn't take one report, however "official" as writing the entire
county's accumulations in stone; some of the counties in eastern PA had a
15" range in their spotter reports.

It is interesting, however, that none of the NWS offices that could claim
the county have issued final reports. LWX, which it seems to be under, has
deleted Garrett County from their list:

Indeed, someone could have been measuring a drift. Resist temptation,
people! :)
