[STORMREPORTS] Eastern NC Weather

Well, so many are reporting of snow and ice, I figure I'll report on
something other than snow and ice.

The Outer Banks of NC is getting pummeled by a Nor'easter of epic
porportions. Well, ok, maybe not THAT extreme. Winds have been steady out
of the north east at around 25mph.....and this afternoon we registered some
gusts up to 42mph. We have had an extreme amount of rain, many local roads
have water on them, at some spots the water is totally across the road, at
least a foot deep, just from the collecting rain water, not fed by river,
creek, or ocean. NC Hwy 12 in Kitty Hawk did not appear to suffer too much
damage from the ocean overwash. NWS was predicting extremely high tides due
to the astronomical high tide and winds associated with the storm. Last
year's January Nor'easter did much more damage as far as ocean overwash was
concerned. The Albemarle Sound is almost completely empty now, with the
winds having pushed the water back up the rivers on the mainland. Some
homeowner's up in Carova, near the Virginia Line, are trapped due to the
high tides on the oceanfront, since the only way to access Carova is by 4
wheel drive on the beach.

found wanting."
