Hi,
Here in Baiting Hollow, NY , were awating the
arrival of the storm. There is still ~4" of snow
cover on the ground from past storms and several
drifts of 3' from Tuesdays high winds (48mph. peak
gust). There was 48mph. winds and a gust to 65mph. at
Orient Point at the tip of the north fork of Long
Island that same day, which produced waves up to ten
feet on the sound. I am expecting 11" of snow from
this storm with a slight possibility of setting a new
record for the highest drift ever record at my
location (11'6") in the Blizzard of '96. That's of
course with exception to the massive blizzards in the
late 1890's.
Right now its 15º and cloudy with light winds
from the north. This morning the windchill reached
down to -29º (old formula). For those of you
interested in the value as calculated using the new
formula, the conditions at the time were 7º with gusts
to 27mph.
Artie
Baiting Hollow, NY
