Many temperatures below zero and as low as -32 degrees F (with wind chills
to -59F) were recorded in the Northeast last night.

Locally, WeatherMatrix HQ hit 2 degrees for a low temperature last night
with 1.7 measured at both AWS stations in Centre County. The official ob
from KUNV airport was and PSU's station KPSU claimed -5.

Here at WeatherMatrix HQ we recorded a low wind chill of -25, the lowest
ever recorded here (records started in 1998)

Temperatures have taken a dive this week, far exceeding anything
(nationwide) that has occurred this season. Looking at the temp stats
since Jan. 9th,

the %age of the US population under 32 degrees F has increased from 10% on
1/9 to 90% last night. The overall low and high across the country has
fallen from 35/45 on 1/9 to 18/30 today.

Temperatures were extremely cold in NY with dozens of stations falling
